Team Member Skill Inventory

(Areas individual members can contribute/want to develop)

Michelle – I am very skilled in technology (should come in handy with this class!) and enjoy proofreading and reformatting papers.

Tamara – I am competent in writing papers and creating presentations as well as APA formatting.

Carrie - familiar with the Microsoft office suite and pretty efficient with APA style.

Learning Team Goals

(May include project assignment goals, group process goals, quality level goals, etc.)

1. Clearly stated project goals which include a timeline.

2. All members will treat others with respect

3. Communication!!

4. Have team projects done one day in advance so all team members can do final review in time.

5.  Group members check into group chat room frequently, if possible daily.

6. To be efficient in working together, learning from and teaching each other

7. To produce outstanding projects.

What are potential barriers to the achievement of these goals?

1. Disorganization of the leader and/or members

2. Members not meeting deadlines.

3. Life, time constraints, technological problems.

4. Poor communication within the group

5. Group members not checking in frequently or missing deadlines.

Ground Rules

Meeting schedule, locations, attendance expectations, agenda, assignment completion, communication methods, etc.

1.       Team members check in with the team every check in team folder every day or every other day, so everyone stays caught up on the conversations.

2.       Meeting and doing all discussion in the team newsgroup, just as long as everyone checks in and/or posts their schedule for the week or weekend. Use phone calls as a last resort when there is an issue.

3.       All members should do their best to comply with the rules and expectations that we as a team create

4.       If a team member does not contribute to a team assignment, their name will be left off of the final posting as contributing to the assignment.

5.       Team members will stay throughout the duration of the team assignment and give feedback about the assignment.  Posting such as “this is fine – fix whatever you want and then feel free to post the final” is not acceptable if this is posted Saturday and the final posting is due Sunday, for example.  Team members should sign off on the assignment the day the assignment is due.

6.       Keep positive strong communication between everyone; have set times when we all should meet as a team so everyone is on the same page.

7.       Remain professional.

Conflict Management

What are potential conflicts that might arise among or between team members during this course? How will team members deal with these and other conflicts?

1.       Team members not meeting their obligations to the team.

2.       Misunderstanding tone or intent due to the lack of nonverbal communication inherent in email is a prospective dilemma. Any problems that do arise will be dealt with in a professional, straightforward manner.

3.       Potential conflict could be due to member’s different perceptions of quality work or necessary content.

4.       Within the team, we should address any issues first, and as a last resort consult our instructor with any conflict that cannot be resolved. As professional teammates, we will be able to resolve any potential conflict.

5.       To avoid some complications of misunderstandings, we need to stay updated and current with all the postings within the group (but also take into consideration those times when things are sometimes accidentally overlooked).

6.       Making sure that everyone is at a good understanding of the assignments when doing them.  Everyone staying professional and not prejudging immaturely on each other

Conflicts will be dealt with through communication. Any other conflicts that cannot be resolved within the team should be taken to the instructor for assistance.
